Hi, I'm Kristen, the baker behind Decorate This! By day, I manage a software development team, and by night (and sometimes very early morning), I bake and cook - a lot. I live just outside of Boston, MA, with my husband Jeff, and our crazy and very snuggly dog Sandy. And, more often than not, you can find Jeff and I in the kitchen, creating everything from artisan chocolates to elaborate dinners to share with our friends.
I've always loved to cook and bake, and have distinct memories from my childhood that involve food. Being in the kitchen with my dad, stirring a big pot of tomato sauce (and hoping for the coveted "chef's sample" - a big spoonful of bubbling tomato sauce, a sliver of smoked chicken, veggies just off the grill...)... Making cookies and sweets with my mom ... Accompanying my first babysitter, fondly known as "Nannie", to cake decorating class. Creating and enjoying great food with family and friends has always been an important part of my life, and with this blog, I hope to share that love with all of you!
About Decorate This!
I started Decorate This! back in 2008, while taking my first cake decorating class, with a focus on cakes, cupcakes, and decorating. I went into the class hoping to enjoy it; little did I know how much I would love it. Since then, my passion for all things baked has continued to grow (exponentially).
My passion to create in the kitchen is boundless, and I am endlessly inspired by so many things - cookbooks, blogs, farmers markets, food magazines, fellow foodies - the list goes on and on. Here you will find my favorite recipes - both sweet and savory, tutorials to help you on your own kitchen adventure, and my latest celebration cake creations. I love sharing my experience with all of you, and hope to inspire others to get in the kitchen and make something delicious!
I love hearing from you! Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, comments, or suggestions. If you have a question about a particular recipe or blog post, please post a comment on the particular blog post so that others can benefit from the answer, too.
